This tour is a mixture of motoring and military history set in one of the most peaceful and beautiful parts of France. The motoring in the Ardennes is one of the highlights of this tour with picturesque villages and scenery. The area has a lot of military history due to its location on the German, Belgium, Luxembourg and French borders. This tour focuses on the Battle of the Bulge which was the last roll of the dice for Nazi Germany in the West and ultimately ended in victory for the Allies.

The cost – includes breakfast, hotel accommodation, Eurotunnel, shooting, museums and guide, but not food and drinks – is £1,500 per person. Please note that this is the cost of a single occupancy in a single room as we wish to be open with the all-inclusive costs. A discount of 10% is available for bookings with two people sharing a room.

Itinerary
Day 1
Take the Eurotunnel and drive to Dinant. Dinant was the furthest West the Germans advanced during the Battle of the Bulge and we visit the imposing Citadel overlooking the River Meuse.
Day 2
Drive through the glorious countryside of the Ardennes to the town of Remouchamps and visit the caves. After lunch, we drive to La Gleize and then onto the site of the Malmedy massacre where 84 American POWs were gunned down by SS troops of Kampfgruppe Peiper. Then a short drive to Saint Vith which saw the opening of Germany’s Ardennes counter-offensive. The Germans should have captured this town by the 17th December but due to stiff American resistance, it only fell on the 21st which completely upset the German timetable.
Day 3
Drive to Schumann’s Eck café and follow the trail around this battlefield site. After lunch, drive to Bastogne and visit the battlefield site around this important historic site where the surrounded Americans held out until relieved by General Patton. Then a short drive to the beautiful town of Saint-Hubert.
Day 4
Drive to Bouillon and visit the Historic Chateau De Bouillon. Drive to Cambrai and visit Deborah the WW1 tank. This Mark IV tank was discovered, lying 3 meters underground, on November 5th, 1998. This tank was one of 476 employed by the British for the first time in 1917.
Day 5
Try your hand at Archery – full tuition is available. Take the Eurotunnel back to Folkestone.
