Description

This tour will be covering bomber command bases in Lincolnshire and will include a tour of a Lancaster bomber. You will be staying in the Petwood Hotel which was the home of the legendary 617 “Dambusters” Squadron.

The date is 5th to 8th September 2023

The cost – includes breakfast, hotel accommodation, coach, museums and guide, but not food and drinks. – is £1,435 per person. Please note that this is the cost of a single occupancy in a single room as we wish to be open with the all-inclusive costs. A discount of 10% is available for bookings with two people sharing a room.

Steve qualified as a Guild of Battlefield Guide in 2004, having left the RAF in 2003, where he served for 18 years as an RAF Police NCO at various bases in the UK and abroad.

Itinerary

DAY 1

Meet at the famous Petwood Hotel near Woodhall Spa, home of the legendary 617 “Dambusters” Squadron in WW2.

Visit RAF Coningsby for a guided tour of the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which includes airworthy Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft.

Day 2

Visit Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre with a guided tour of a Lancaster bomber and a 1940’s control tower. In the collection is a rare De Haviland Mosquito and a hanger full of support vehicles and uniforms.

Drink’s at the Bluebell Inn which was the local pub for the ‘Dambusters’.

Day 3

Visit The International Bomber Command Centre Memorial

Visit RAF Scampton is renowned as the former home of the famous World War II Dambusters 617 squadron.

Day 4

RAF Digby and a guided tour Sector Operations Room Museum which is exactly as it would have been in World War II.
