Gillian Halcrow is the daughter of E.H. van Maurik, Agent Paterson SOE, known as ‘Van’, being of Dutch descent. After the war Van married Winifred Hay, she was a Captain in the F.A.N.Y. regiment, working in Baker Street and indeed she was working there for him. Gillian worked for the National Trust and in the last twelve years she has been giving talks on various subjects but especially, with Van’s blessing before he died in 2012, on the SOE. Her father thought that eventually there wouldn’t be much interest in the SOE, how wrong he was!
